American Pledge
We pledge to help Americans buy a home and keep it
About AmPledge
The protection every homeowner needs
At AmPledge, we believe buying a home is just the first step — keeping it is where stability begins. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we provide a complete path through homeownership with our U.S. patent approved AmPledge Hardship Assistance Program™ and its built-in AmPledge Safety-Net Fund™. Supported by banks, mortgage lenders, and corporations, this first-of-its-kind program sets aside an amount equal to up to 5% of each member’s home purchase price, available during qualified hardships in the most vulnerable first five years of homeownership. Alongside this protection, we also offer a turnkey down payment assistance program funded by our bank and employer partners that supports both bank borrowers and employees of corporations. Through structured financial support, HUD-approved counseling, and ongoing education, we equip members with the tools and resources to stay current on their mortgage, build resilience, and create a brighter future in a home of their own.

Our Why
Our founder, Robert Irick, was driving through the streets of Atlanta, Georgia, in 2008 at the height of the recession. What he witnessed that day changed everything.
At the time, foreclosure filings in the U.S. had surged to over 2.3 million—up from around 800,000 just two years prior. Atlanta was one of the hardest-hit cities, with approximately 1 in every 25 homes in foreclosure. As Robert drove past street after street of displaced families and belongings piled on sidewalks, he felt a deep urgency: something had to change.
That moment sparked the creation of American Pledge.
While many programs help Americans purchase homes, Robert realized there were none that helped them keep them. That’s the gap American Pledge was built to fill.
Through the AmPledge Hardship Assistance Program™ and its built-in AmPledge Safety-Net Fund™, we provide homeowners with critical financial support during the most vulnerable first five years of homeownership. When life brings unexpected challenges, we offer a lifeline to help families stay in their homes with dignity.
Homeownership is more than a milestone. It is a foundation for stability, pride, and future opportunity. At AmPledge, we protect that foundation and ensure the American Dream does not end at the front door.
